Vitamin B12 May Protect the Brain in Old Age

Oh dear! I'd not posted in ages; so here's some useful health information. AND I need to take some Vitamins B12 and so do the rest of you ... *wink*

Vitamin B12, a nutrient found in meat, fish and milk, may protect against brain volume loss in older people, according to a study published in the September 9, 2008, issue of Neurology®, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

Interesting.Recently I was watching news on TV and they talked about this too. They did some studies on older people and measure their B12 levels. They found out that people with highest level of B12 in blood have the least brain shrinkage.

But then again I wonder how they measure brain shrinkage ... ;)

I was reading my email from work and one of the articles was regarding this subject. They did brain MRI and CT scan to measure brain volume to determine the amount of brain shrinkage.Interesting article.
