"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

The above became the pivotal quote in the beautiful, moving and inspiring movie "Akeelah and the Bee". Rated four stars. This movie is a must for young and old, especially one with a family. I brought mine to see it yesterday and we walked away feeling good and ready to take on the world :-)
Check out the movie title in the search engine ...

Hmmm ... based on your recommendation, I'll go and check it out at 'Kenyalang' tonight. Not the closed-down cinema silly! But the DVDs pirates lah! ;o)
btw i still have porblems spelling! heehee!
Dr. Tan, can u be my Dr. Larabee?
Yes, this movie inspires me to take more notice of my spelling and to enlarge my vocabulary. I do not mind watching it again with my family in future when it is available as a vcd or dvd in Singapore. Currently I cannot find it in any of the CD stores here. Hope you can get hold of a copy in Kenyalang, fH2O.
fh2o - how about Jln Song? hee...hee. News out yesterday - you can now get movies on your ipod!
This movie sounds like one of those "feel good" movie . Can't find it in "slow" Auckland yet . Talking about spelling bee , recently we have a tv series on spelling ... it is all very entertaining , the participants were all tv personalities . They have to spell backwards , speed spell etc. Like i said it was all very light hearted and very humorous... seeing the face of the spellers when they have to spell some difficult words !
mmm Tiong Kiat, you will certainly enjoy 'Akeelah and the Bee' then when you eventually get hold of the DVD or VCD. It has the suspense ingredient, aside from humour and tears..
